ब्रिटिश सरकार उसके लिए ऐसे मुसलमानों को नामजद करने पर तुली हुई थी , जो हर तरह से सांप्रदायिक हों और आगा खां के नेतृत्व में तो ये लोग इतने नीचे उतर गये कि इंग्लैंड के सार्वजनिक जीवन के सबसे ज्यादा प्रतिक्रियावादी और हिंदुस्तान की नहीं , बल्कि सभी प्रगतिशील वर्गों के नजरिये से सबसे ज्यादा खतरनाक व्यक्तियों तक के साथ मिलने के लिए तैयार हो गये .

But even apart from this , the treatment accorded to the Indian people during the past year by the British authorities , the latter ' s attempts to encourage every disruptive and reactionary tendency , their forcible realisations of money for the war from even the poor of India , and thier repeated affronts to Indian nationalism , are such that we can never forget them or ignore them .
